S&P 500 carves out first intraday record in about 7 months as stocks extend gains

The S&P 500 index rose 0.1% at 2,942, and hit an all-time intraday peak at 2,943.59 at the start of trade. The last time it touched an intraday high was Sept. 21, according to FactSet data.
