(Quick disclaimer: My results, as well as those of the students mentioned, are far from typical. We’ve dedicated time to build our trading knowledge and hone exceptional skills. Most traders lose money. Always remember trading is risky. Never risk more than you can afford.) I say it all the time: I like to pretend I’m a retired trader. It’s a mental trick to help me filter my trades. Any play has to be good enough to drag me out of retirement. The other day, a play came along that was DEFINITELY good enough to drag me out of retirement… In fact, it was so good that not only did it drag me out of my ‘retired trader’ mentality but I also traded midday. That’s usually when I avoid trading! This is a great example of how crazy useful the information is in my chat rooms… I have two two chat rooms: TimAlerts and TimChallenge. TimChallenge is for students in my Trading Challenge. Challenge students also have access to all my videos, lessons, and webinars with me and my top students like Tim Grittani. (Grittani just passed $10 million in profits, BTW.* Again, his results aren’t typical). I was just finishing up a webinar. I’d already had a decent profit that morning thanks to trading Waitr Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: WTRH). $WTRH was a food-service coronavirus play. I wasn’t looking to trade again … But just as I was about to exit the webinar, my student schultzy sent out an alert about No Borders (OTCMKTS: NBDR)… This stock had news about an at-home coronavirus test. It was already spiking. I reacted fast. It was 1:38 p.m. when schultzy commented, and I entered the position at about 1:41 p.m. I put in a little over $1K and made over $1K.* Not bad! And guess how schultzy found this trade? Yep, using StocksToTrade. This is the type of trade that Wall Streeters might mock. Who cares about $1K? I do. My students do. I want to show you this because it’s a trade that nearly anyone could execute. Watch, learn, and STUDY. Be prepared for opportunities like this when they arise. I’m planning on staying for a few days. But who knows — it could be a few weeks as we wait out the coronavirus. There’s a lot we don’t know right now. It’s a very scary time. First and foremost, I’m sending good thoughts to those who are affected by the coronavirus, as well as their family and friends. In this video, I want to talk about how the coronavirus is affecting the stock market. I’ve been warning about the potential effects of this virus for months. It’s not because I think it’s the end of the world. It’s because I know this can cause huge volatility in the markets. A virus like this can spread exponentially, as we’ve seen by the increasing numbers of those afflicted. Stocks related to handling the crisis — even in a minor way — can grow exponentially too. Right now, there are so many potential trades with stocks that could experience exponential growth. There’s so much movement in the market. More and more of my students are earning $50K, $100K, $200K per day. Nope, these results aren’t typical. These students have dedicated themselves to learning how to trade. Remember that most traders lose money and trading is risky — especially in markets like this. Never risk more than you can afford. The biggest problem right now with the coronavirus is containment. Even though the fatality rate is relatively low, the more it spreads, the more deadly it could be. Western countries haven’t done a great job of containing it. A lot of people were dismissive for too long. The virus could be short term … But as more people spread it, its longevity increases. Past pandemics that weren’t properly contained have lasted a year or more. Think about that before you dismiss how serious this is. I don’t know how long the coronavirus will affect the stock market… Right now, everything’s closing. In Italy, it’s bars, restaurants, and museums. More and more businesses are shutting down in the U.S., too. Nobody’s traveling. Nobody’s booking flights, cruises, or hotels. The impact of all this can be staggering — it can crush the economy. Start thinking about that before you assume the stock market will just bounce back. In this video, I have some important tips to help you stay safe while the coronavirus and its aftermath ripple through the stock market. Fraudsters and newbies are getting crushed. I have 20+ years of experience. Trust me: you’ve gotta recognize the risk. Be cautious. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Don’t predict! React. This is a tough lesson, and I’m not proud of myself. I made a mistake on a trade because I broke my own rules. Even though I’m not proud of my mistake, I have to share it with you. I’m committed to being fully transparent. That means sharing not just my successes but my mistakes too. Let me set the scene. I was feeling good … I’d had executed a good trade. It played out how I expected and I made about $2K.* But here’s the thing … It wasn’t my usual setup. It was a midday trade — not when I usually trade. But it worked out, and that made me cocky. So I let myself believe that it could work again… And I jumped into another trade. I went against what I believe, and I got in trouble. In the video, I’ll tell you exactly what went wrong … and how I dealt with it once I realized my mistake. The silver lining: if you keep your positions small, your losses will be small, too. A loss on a penny stock trade is rarely the end of the world… What’s key is how you handle it. If you can learn from the experience, you can find value in your losses. You gotta know this: trading isn’t just about making money. It’s about building sustainable, smart habits that can help you to become consistent over days, weeks, months, and years. Even if you’re making money right now, you could be doing it the wrong way and building bad habits. And that can cost you money in the long run. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Yep, this happens even to experienced traders. I got cocky from a trade where I broke my rules, and it was a slippery slope. They’re all blowing up — and it’s all because of the coronavirus. Right now I’m getting all sorts of messages from people. They all want to know… “WHAT SHOULD I DO?” Instead of responding to every single DM, I decided to make this video. This is my response to the market crash. Watch to get the answers to a lot of the questions I’m getting. I know that the coronavirus is scary. I know that the stock market crash and sudden shift into a bear market is scary. The good news is that this will pass. That you can count on. The bad news is that right now you’ve got to get through it. And nobody knows how long this will last or how bad it will get before things start to turn around. It’s understandable that there’s a lot of fear right now. I mean, insane things are happening. There’s the market crash and the bear market. The NBA is on hold indefinitely. Tom Hanks and his wife Rita just announced they have the coronavirus. It’s crazy! Right now, it’s very important to be safe. Limit your travel. Wash your hands thoroughly and often. Avoid doing anything that could spread the virus. Remember, without even realizing it you could be spreading it. The fatality rate is low, but it can be dangerous to people with compromised immune systems. So please be careful. I always say that I’m a glorified history teacher and that you must study the past. This applies not only to the stock market but to world events. We’ve had pandemics before. They’re scary. But they pass. There’s no clear answer right now. We don’t know how low the stock market will go. We don’t know how many people will get sick. But it will be over eventually. In the meantime, in spite of the market crash, there are a TON of opportunities for smart traders! I’ll tell you how Tim Grittani, my top student who’s now over $10 million in profits,* has been doing in the markets the past few weeks. Otherwise, there won’t be much point in trading or making money. But back to the topic of chat rooms. These days, it seems like everyone has one. Gurus are quick to promise that they’ll give you the best picks and alerts. You want hot picks? Get off my channel. Don’t follow me. Hot picks didn’t make me rich. Hot picks didn’t make my five millionaire students rich. (Quick disclaimer: These results are far from typical. My students and I have dedicated time to build our trading knowledge and hone exceptional skills. Most traders lose money. Always remember trading is risky. Never risk more than you can afford.) Let me ask you this … How many chat rooms have confirmed millionaires who show every trade? I’m not talking screenshots here. Here’s the reality: hot picks don’t teach you anything. Every year, I go back to my roots and trade with a $12K account. That’s how much I had when I started trading. I use my trades as lessons, and I donate the money I make to charity. Check out how a lot of chat rooms operate … There’s a ‘guru’ who says “trade this.” Everyone does, and then the guru sells into everyone else buying in. How do you think that works out for those followers? Most chat rooms work to enrich the guru. Not the people. Don’t be a follower. Most chat rooms are just big massive examples of groupthink. That’s a problem. I’ll tell you why my chat room is different … and how it’s just part of what I teach. My bigger goal is to help you learn to think for yourself — the chat room is just supplemental.
