Can You Make Your Pet Go Vegan?

Do you have a pet? If you do, has it ever crossed your mind that it just might be… vegan? Well, if it hasn’t, don’t worry, because it’s not. However, there’s a growing interest among some folks out there in making cats and dogs go on a plant-only-based diet, and it’s just a bit alarming. You see, humans are omnivores, which means we can eat anything, apart maybe from rocks. Animals aren’t like this, however. They’re mostly divided into herbivores, or plant-eaters, and carnivores, or predators and meat-eaters, and it’s a serious distinction. TIMESTAMPS:
🐶 Why dogs certainly can follow a vegan diet 1:17
🐱 What about cats? 2:35 Foods that are an absolute no-no for either dogs or cats:
– Chocolate and coffee 3:32
– Citrus fruit 4:24
– Milk and dairy products 4:52
– Onion, garlic, and chives 5:22
– Nuts 5:47
– Grapes and raisins 6:20
– Coconuts 6:36
– Yeast dough 7:08 #cats #dogs #brightside SUMMARY:
– Dogs are natural omnivores, just like us, while cats are predators. Wild dogs feed on anything they find after a successful hunt: first they eat the contents of the stomach of their prey, which is usually herbivore, and then they eat the meat as well. – Cats are a different story, though. Dr. Jennifer Larsen from the University of California says there has been at least one case in her practice where owners nearly killed their pet cat with a plant-based diet. – Cocoa and coffee beans contain substances called methylxanthines, which are okay for humans but are dangerous for pets. – Every part of a citrus plant contains citric acid and essential oils, which can lead to irritation and nervous system damage.
– Most mammals develop lactose intolerance as they age, and neither cats, nor dogs, nor even humans are any exception. Just as you must be careful with the amount of milk you drink per day, so should your pet.
– Apart from upset stomach, eating onion, garlic, chives, and herbs can lead to red blood cell damage, causing some serious health problems. – Any nuts, be it peanuts, almonds, or walnuts, are high in fats and oils that aren’t properly digested by your pet’s system.
– Since both fresh and dried grapes can cause kidney failure, especially in dogs.
– Coconuts and coconut oil aren’t harmful for your pets if eaten in small amounts. However, coconut water contains a lot of potassium. – You know better than to feed your pet bread or pastry, but in case you didn’t know, yeast dough can rise and cause excessive gas in the animal’s stomach. 13 Tricks Prove Magic Is Just an Illusion

Anyone who’s ever watched a magic show might find themselves really convinced that these people studied at Hogwarts! But do you know that there’s nothing magical about illusion? Except how it makes you feel! It’s kind of fun to experience that “wow” sensation! It almost always leaves us wondering: “How did he do that?” Because as exciting as magic can be, it gets a bit frustrating trying to figure it out. But even the most head-spinning tricks can easily be explained. So let's ease your pain by revealing the secrets behind 13 common tricks. Next time you see one of these tricks, you’ll know exactly what’s going on behind all the smoke and mirrors! TIMESTAMPS:
Torn Bill 0:24
Disappearing Glass 1:13
The Signed Card 1:48
Make $100 from $1 2:26 Pulling a Rabbit out of a Hat 3:07
The Human Zigzag 3:58
Michael Jackson's Gravity-Defying Lean 4:29
Going Through a Mirror 5:04
Breaking out of Handcuffs 5:36
Getting Free of Chains Underwater 6:14
The Saw Trick 7:08
Linking Rings 7:48
Disappearance of the Statue of Liberty 8:20 #magictrick #illusion #brightside SUMMARY:
– #1. This trick is done using a special “gimmick” that slides on to the eraser-end of the pencil. It should be the same color so that it blends in perfectly. – #2. The handkerchief has a hidden wiry ring that creates an illusion that there’s a glass under it. As for the glass itself, the magician already slid it into a secret hole in the table! – #3. The illusionist hides a folded card in his sleeve beforehand, replaces it with the viewer's at the right moment, and then rips it up. – #4. As you display the $1 bill while keeping that 100 concealed, you slyly slide it over until it’s hidden behind the top left corner of the dollar. – #5. While the illusionist shows the audience that the hat is absolutely empty, the rabbit is hidden under the table. The hardest part is getting the rabbit from the bag and into the hat without the audience noticing!
– #6. The success of this trick depends on the assistant’s flexibility.
– #7. The secret was in his shoes the whole time! They had holes in the heels that attached to little metal pegs in the floor. The shoes also had a sturdy support frame that came up on his legs quite high. – #8. The construction allows his assistant to move the mirror aside and replace it with the 2 panels so that he can crawl through. – #9. Houdini studied all kinds of locks his whole life and had an encyclopedic knowledge of handcuffs. He could guess which key would open this or that type of cuffs at first glance.
– #10. The chamber’s special design was key for this trick. Since his body was displacing some water, it created an air pocket in the tank. Secondly, Houdini’s unmatched skills also played their role. – #11. What you can’t see as you try to peek at the show through your fingers is that those feet aren’t actually hers! There’s a second assistant underneath that box, and her feet are sticking out.
– #12. It really is just smooth sleight-of-hand because there’s a tiny gap in one of the rings – he’s just sure to keep it hidden under his hand. – #13. After the curtain goes up in the beginning, the platform is slowly turned until the Statue is out of the audience’s line of vision. A New Unique Space Object Scientists Are Running for

If you look up into a cloudless night, you'll see the sky full of galaxies, stars, moons, and ploonets. "Ploonets"? Exactly! These are brand-new space objects that scientists have been hunting with fervor recently. Intriguing name aside, these objects are, in fact, runaway moons, with an equally intriguing nature! The problem is that these space bodies are like unicorns: everyone talks about them, but nobody’s ever seen one. And that's why astronomers from Earth are hunting ploonets, trying to prove they exist! It started in 2018, when scientists discovered something that didn't fit into the previously accepted theory… TIMESTAMPS:
Where the name "ploonets" came from 0:35
Scientists find "Neptmoon" 2:11
How ploonets are born 4:14
Why they are doomed 5:56
And here's the saddest news 6:37
The unsolved mystery of the Tabby's Star 7:25
Another puzzling space phenomenon 8:30 #planets #space #brightside SUMMARY:
– For the past couple of decades, earthlings have located more than 4,000 exoplanets, which are any planets hanging around somewhere in space outside our Solar System.
– Imagine a moon circling a monstrous gas exoplanet that, in turn, circles the star.
– The closer the exoplanet gets to the star, the stronger the gravitational pull of the star is. And suddenly, this pull may become so strong that it’ll literally push the moon away from its host planet and out of its orbit! – Inevitably, during this process, the exomoon loses some of its mass, but what remains, starts to circle the star itself. Welcome, dear new ploonet. – Scientists are sure that as soon as a ploonet begins to orbit the host star, you won't be able to distinguish it from a real planet. – If ploonets really exist, it can explain why it's so hard to locate exomoons. They just get ejected from their orbits and travel on their own as a new type of celestial body.
– Computer simulators showed that 6% of ploonets get munched by their stars. Like a celestial snack food. – Нou've probably heard that our planet's own Moon is slowly but steadily moving away from Earth with every passing year. It makes scientists believe that in some 5 billion years, our moon may also end up as a ploonet!
– Approximately 50% larger than our Sun, and way hotter, this star is located around 1,000 light-years away from the Solar System. – But what’s been baffling astronomers for years, is the star's eerie ability to dim for several days or even weeks at a time.
– Researchers agree that it looks as if something's blocking the Tabby's Star, and if this something is a mass of planets, there must be more than 50 of them! Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

15 Natural Ways to Get Rid of Mosquitoes in Your Yard

How to prevent mosquito bites? In the summer, we all want to spend more time out in the fresh air, take walks in the park, and enjoy the greenery and flowers. But mosquitoes can ruin even the most wonderful vacations. Btw, research has proven that mosquitoes can rapidly learn and remember the smells of hosts, and that’s what makes some people more preferable than others. Did you know, for example, that mosquitoes just hate the lavender smell? This is an herb that’s super easy to get ahold of. You can also just set small bushels of lavender around your backyard living area. So if you taste especially sweet, here's the list of the recipes for natural fragrances that will scare the mosquitoes away, so you can enjoy the pleasures of summer. Try them instead of reaching for more chemical sprays! TIMESTAMPS:
Citronella 0:34
Lemongrass 1:01
Cedar 1:32
Peppermint 1:55
Eucalyptus 2:27
Garlic 2:59
Lavender 3:29
Marigolds 3:58
Basil 4:28
Catnip 5:00
Rosemary 5:29
Neem Oil 6:09
Sage 6:40
Floss Flowers 7:02
Mint 7:35 #mosquitoes #lifehacks #brightside SUMMARY:
– Citronella is from the lemongrass plant and covers up the smell of carbon dioxide and lactic acid that our bodies give off.
– Lemongrass is a beautiful ornamental grass that originates from Asia. It works like citronella, but even stronger! – This one might come as a surprise – mosquitos hate the smell of cedar!
– Peppermint is one of the most versatile plants out there. It can be found in an essential oil, teas, candles, and even lotions! To keep mosquitos away, fill a small spray bottle with water, 2 large spoonfuls of witch hazel, then add 10 drops of peppermint oil and shake ‘er up. – Like citronella, the powerful smell of eucalyptus interferes with the mosquito’s senses so that it can’t find its food.
– Just eating garlic interferes with our pheromones and makes us smell different, making it hard for mosquitoes to find us.
– Plant marigolds around your backyard to repel mosquitos. You could even trim the flowers and put them in a vase on your outdoor table, and mosquitos will leave you in peace. – Catnip contains nepetalactone, and scientists say its scent is 10 times stronger than your everyday bug spray. – This is another herb that’s good in the kitchen and for repelling mosquitos. Rosemary is super aromatic, which basically means it has a powerful but pleasant scent – and bugs hate it!
– The most effective way to use sage against mosquitos is to add it to your outdoor fire. – Feel free to give the inside of your home protection from mosquitos by hanging dried mint or sprinkling clumps of it around the house or on outside surfaces. What Happened with the Most Beautiful Woman That Ever Lived

She captivated millions on both sides of the Atlantic. She was even dubbed “the most beautiful woman that ever lived.” Her life behind the scenes was as enigmatic as her image on screen. So, what ever happened to silent-film star Greta Garbo after all that success? The Swedish actress never really liked talking to the press. You know what she famously said when asked about her personal life? “I was born. I had a mother and father. I went to school. What does it matter?” And still, her younger days in Sweden affected her deeply. If not for them, she probably wouldn’t have found her calling at all… TIMESTAMPS:

Animation is created by Bright Side. SUMMARY:
– Her dad passed, leaving her family of now 4 in unimaginable financial hardship. She desperately had to earn a living, so she started working at a department store. – Once she started acting in commercials in 1920, her path to the big screen was now wide open. – Greta enrolled in acting school at Stockholm’s Royal Dramatic Theater. When she graduated in 1924, she was discovered by one of Sweden’s leading directors, Mauritz Stiller.
– He was also the one who insisted she use a stage name. After all, “Gustafsson” didn’t exactly roll off the tongue, and the difficult pronunciation would make the aspiring actress’s name hard to remember.
– And soon enough, her fame would go trans-Atlantic. In 1925, the famous American film studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer offered Stiller to work in Hollywood.
– But it was a time when talent wasn’t enough for an actress to become a big star. Garbo was forced to lose weight and learn English, her hair was dyed, her teeth were fixed, and her eyebrows were tweezed into thin threads. – In 1926, Garbo played a Spanish singer in her first American film called Torrent. It was a hit.
– Most of Garbo’s films were love stories or dramas, and her unique performance on screen combined both passion and restraint.
– Despite being one of Hollywood’s major idols, she didn’t attend movie premieres, talk to reporters, or sign autographs.
– In 1930, she made her debut in the sound film Anna Christie. Her raspy sound fascinated people no less than her gaze that could replicate dozens of emotions. The picture was once again well received.
– According to TIME, she was the top-paid actor in 1934, with a whopping $500,000 salary! – In 1941, she appeared in Two-Faced Woman. The critics called the story silly, and it was a flop. The film’s failure supposedly hurt the actress’s self-esteem tremendously. – She moved to Manhattan, where she’d take long strolls down the streets of New York wearing huge sunglasses to not be spotted. – And although she wasn’t making movies anymore, she hadn’t given up on art entirely. She turned to collecting paintings and bought the works of Jawlensky, Renoir, and many others.
– Greta Garbo died in 1990 at the age of 84. As biographer Barry Paris put it, she was an anomaly. Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

A Crack Under Ocean May Pull Europe and the Americas Together

You might know already that our planet hasn’t always been separated into seven continents. Once upon a time, it was all one huge supercontinent called Pangea. But the movement didn’t stop, so in the future, we might just be a couple continents short? In 1755, there was a huge earthquake in Lisbon, Portugal that had catastrophic consequences. After that, everything went quiet, and for more than 200 years no more natural disasters happened. But then, in 1969, another earthquake shook the west of Portugal — this one milder, but it was still considered very powerful. It was then that marine geologist João Duarte started looking at the tectonic plates beneath Portugal. He was concerned with those earthquakes for a single reason: they were not normal… TIMESTAMPS:
What a “normal” earthquake is 1:13
What’s so unusual about an earthquake in Portugal? 3:03
👉 This research looks like bad news 👈 3:26
So what will happen to the planet? 5:29
The Atlantic Ocean might disappear. Wait, what?! 😨 6:21
How exactly our planet will become a supercontinent 8:09 #geology #continents #brightside SUMMARY:
– Quakes happen when two tectonic plates meet, and one of them is forced underneath the other because of gravity and pressure. – The plate beneath the continent of North America spreads to the northeast and covers the whole of Greenland and its coastal waters.
– So what’s so unusual about an earthquake in Portugal, then? The thing is, this country is far from any tectonic fault, and the plate it sits on is flat. – Duarte’s team found that the plate they were looking at has been undergoing the process of serpentinization. It’s a natural process when the rock in the seabed absorbs water. – You see, when tectonic masses move around, they eventually bump into each other. For now, there’s a set number of those plates, and they’re moving at a verrrry slow rate. – The brand new tectonic plate will go underneath the Atlantic Ocean and collide with several other plates at once.
– It’ll be pushed under some of them and above others, but the result will be all the same: more and more subduction zones will start appearing, causing natural disasters… and the eventual disappearance of the Atlantic Ocean itself.
– If some newcomer shifts all the rest of the tectonic plates, it will eventually lead to water seeping away from the Atlantic Ocean. – And while the movement of the plates continues — and it will go on until there’s space for that — the landscape of our planet will continue reshaping. – Today, scientists believe that the Atlantic Ocean is opening, while the Pacific, on the contrary, is closing. If this tendency persists, then both American continents will go join the club with Africa and Eurasia.
– Don’t worry, though: this all might sound really cool, but geological processes take a lot of time. Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Subscribe to Bright Side : https://goo.gl/rQTJZz

– People from Europe tend to get confused when striving to spot Coca-Cola Light in American or British supermarkets. What they might not know is that in these countries, low-calorie Coca-Cola is called Diet Coke!
– When people from Europe, Japan, and Russia wash their clothes, they often use a popular fabric softener called Lenor. But no matter how hard you try to find this product in the US, all you'll see on the shelves will be blue bottles labeled Downy.
– Another product of Procter&Gamble, Tide laundry detergent has not one, but three names! In Central Europe, this product is known by the name "Vizir," and in Turkey, you'll buy "Alo." – Vaseline, a popular remedy for dry skin, sounds different in Spanish and Portuguese. That's why if you need this product, let's say, in Brazil or Mexico, make sure you ask for Vasenol. – Dove is a popular chocolate brand you can find nearly everywhere in the world. But if you come to Egypt, India, or the UK, look for chocolates named "Galaxy."
– People from Europe are used to the chocolate-covered bar, Milky Way, which is wrapped in blue packaging with little white stars. But if you want to munch on the same bar in the US, search for the one called 3 Musketeers. – Few people know that modern-day Lay's first appeared in the UK under the name of Walkers more than 70 years ago! And guess what? In Great Britain, they still crunch Walkers!-
– The Rexona brand, which produces world-known deodorants and antiperspirants is called Degree, in South Africa – Shield, in the UK and Ireland – Sure, and in Japan and South Korea – Rexena.
– Ever heard of low-fat margarine called "Becel"? Nope? And how about the one called "Promise"?
– A renowned American retailer, T.J. Maxx, miraculously turns into T.K. Maxx once you go to Europe. – In China, you won't find a bottle of Sprite, even if you try really hard! But pay attention to the drink called "Xuebi" – it's the same soda so many people are crazy about.
